Arien didn't gasp, not even flinch, she stared, wide eyed. "Ryuu, who were you a slave to?" Her voice was soft. She looked up at him, her face full of fear. "Who were they?!"

Ryuu laughed sarcastically. "I couldn't even begin name them all. I was just an animal in an orginization that trained us and broke us, sending us out to other families." He had begun to sweat, but he didn't notice. His eyes were squeezed shut as if he was in pain. "They forced us into submission. They sent us into other homes, forced to obey. And those homes didn't just hold whips." He moved his hand to a scar near his waste. "They held blades and angry men made to break your leg. And if you didn't obey, you were either punished or given back to him and punished." He wrapped his arms around himself, shaking as if he were cold.

Arien backed away, shaking her head. "No...No." She pointed to a scar on Ryuu's chest. "He did this." She rubbed her shoulders, as if sudden'y cold. Shaking her head, she pressed against the door. "I knew he had a slave, but I never saw him." She looked back up at Ryuu. "It was you."

"Who?" Ryuu looked down at the mark. He had shut the cause of this one out of his mind, but as she noticed it, memories came flooding back. "No!" He found himself kneeling on the floor, holding his head. Tolkada-sama. Ryuu shivered.

Arien slid against the door, falling to the floor. Her eyes were wide. "That's why they came back." Voice was barely audible. Her gaze traveled to Ryuu. She grasped her shoulder, tightening her grip. "Ryuu, did you tell them about us, me." Her head inclined closer. "Did they make you tell?"

Ryuu gazed at Arien through foggie eyes. "What?" he asked, staring at her, although not comprehending her words. He felt her shake him, but he was in a world of his own, filled with pain and tormentation.

Arien shook him again. "Please Ryuu I must know." Her voice grew srious, losing all of its feminine charm. "Did you tell them about me?" Her eyes bore into his. All the pain now visible in those vibrant green eyes.

Her second shake was enough to bring him out of his reverie. "I....I remember being hit over and over and over again, and then....I guess I told them there was a girl." His eyes saught hers. "But I never knew it was you. I didn't know they'd hurt you. I didn't." His eyes fell back to the floor, and he slumped over, back in his world.

Arien released Ryuu. She clenched her fists. "Those...those..." She couldn't even finish her sentence. Reaching down, she grabbed Ryuu's shoulders and pulled him up. Unbeliveable that such strength would come from such a small girl. "No more sulking. Get your freakin' shirt back on. We came to Osaka to do a job, now I don't know whatever the heck it is. But, I do believe that no one wants the all powerful Ryuu to be breaking down." She let go of him and grabbed her scythe. "Plus, I need something to vent this."

Ryuu stayed on the ground, watching Arien move. "I....I...." his voice cracked, and his eyes filled with tears. "I never meant to hurt you, Arien. And I never meant to send them to you. I was....afraid." He stayed down, facing away from her. "I truly am."

Arien pasued at the door, but didn't turn around. "I know Ryuu." She held onto the doorknob tightly. "I remember hearing my Grandparents plea. 'Take the girl' they said. 'She is worthless anyway.'" A single tear rolled down her cheek. "Then they mentioned my mother. Said she didn't deserve to die. Said it was all my fault. That I didn't deserve to live." The hand still remained clutched on the door knob. "I was supposed to o to the slave company at birth. But my mother pleaded for my Grandparents to take me. They agreed." She closed her eyes, letting more tears flow. "I tattoed myself on my shoulders. At the time, I didn't know what the symbol meant, but it was on something that my mother had left for me. The symbol was the symbol of my mother." She bit her bottom lip. "She used to be an assasin, and wore that symbol on all of her clothes. I know why everyone looks at me. They're scared. Scared I'll be like my mother. My fate was set even before I was born."

Ryuu didn't say anything for a long moment. Finally, he spoke. "And did you?" It was a simple question, but Ryuu put emphasis behind every syllable.

Arien paused. "No. I'm not like my mother." She opened the door. "I don't give up that easily." And then she was out, walking dow the halls of the Inn.

Ryuu sighed, defeated. He stared at the ground a moment before reaching his hand out. It clunched at the fabric of his shirt. Slowly, Ryuu stood and put it on, tucking it into his hakama. He turned towards the door, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.
Bursting through the door, he stood his ground, allowing the sunlight to light him up from the back. His kodachi and katana were unsheathed and he held one in each hand. "Where're you running away to?" he asked, his voice almost as melodic as usual, although backed with determination now. "We've got business to attend to."

Arien paused, a grin forming at her lips. "Waiting for you." She grabbed the piece of cloth that she had tied to her wrist and used it to tie up her hair. Now her tattoes were totally visible. She wore her head proudly. "Come on Ryuu, lets get to taht 'bussiness' that you keep ranting about."
